Ontario is our home city. Our office is at 3274 E Guasti Rd, so this is the ground we know best and the area we reach fastest. It is also a genuinely interesting city for sewer work, because it contains a nineteenth century planned colony, a full run of twentieth century housing and one of the largest logistics districts in the western United States, all within the same boundary.
The historic core along Euclid Avenue, laid out in the 1880s as a model colony with its distinctive tree-lined boulevard, holds housing from the 1890s through the 1920s on cast iron and early vitrified clay. On the Inland Empire's hard water those cast iron laterals have built heavy mineral scale and corrosion crust over a century, narrowing the bore until a house drains slowly everywhere. Descaling with chain knockers is a core service here, and the before-and-after camera pass is how you know whether there was sound iron left behind the crust to recover.
The ground is alluvial fan material washed out of San Antonio Canyon and the San Gabriel front, coarser and more granular than the dense clays further south, with cobbles that slow a trench. Postwar tracts around the core carry mid-century clay and in places Orangeburg, failing at the joints under the annual soil cycle, with mature street trees supplying the roots.
The warehouse and airport districts add a large commercial load. These are big sites with private internal sewer networks, frequently extended piecemeal over decades and rarely documented accurately, and camera mapping is usually the first and most valuable job on a new commercial site.
